This year will be our third time going to the Ideal Home Show at the Halifax Exhibition Centre, and it’s something I genuinely look forward to. Being part of Carbondale Construction, I’ve come to really value the chance to connect with people from across the HRM and the rest of Nova Scotia who are thinking about building or improving their homes.
You’ll be able to find us at Booth 822, and for me, it’s less about just having a booth and more about having real conversations with homeowners. Every year, we meet people at all different stages, from early ideas to ready-to-build plans, and it’s always interesting to hear what they’re looking for.
One of the main things we focus on is ICF, (insulated concrete forms). It’s a building method that makes a lot of sense here in Halifax because of how strong and energy efficient it is. With the kind of weather we get in HRM, having a structure that can handle the elements while also keeping heating costs down is a big advantage. I’ve seen more people become interested in it, especially those who are thinking long-term about their homes.
At the same time, I’ve also noticed a growing interest in epoxy flooring. It’s something that can completely change the look and function of a space, whether it’s a garage, basement, or even part of the main living area. What stands out to me is how durable it is and how clean and modern it looks once it’s finished. It’s one of those upgrades that people don’t always consider right away, but once they see it, it tends to stick with them.
Coming back for a third year really just reinforces that we’re building something steady here in Halifax and across Nova Scotia. The show gives us a chance to stay connected to the community and to share what we’ve been working on in a more personal way.
If you’re planning to attend the Ideal Home Show, feel free to stop by Booth 822 at the Halifax Exhibition Centre. I’m always happy to talk through ideas, answer questions, or just hear about what you’ve got in mind.
